Prioritize the Gospel

April 26, 2021
Now I urge you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree in what you say, that there be no divisions among you, and that you be united with the same understanding and the same conviction. —1 Corinthians 1:10

Paul noticed many good things about the church in Corinth, but he also saw divisions and contention.

Rather than speak harshly to them, Paul speaks lovingly to them.

Paul knew that divisions in the church would cause major issues.

Lost people would see fault in the church.

Saved people would fall away from the church.

The church would lose favor with the community around them.

But rather than focus on the divisions, Paul pointed straight to the gospel.

We are all different, with different opinions, likes, dislikes, etc.

Whatever our preferences, as Paul urged the Corinthians, we should always prioritize the gospel of Jesus above all else.

Let’s make much of the gospel!

In Christ,
Jonathan
