Two Choices

Deuteronomy 30:19-20 (NIV) - 19  This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live    20  and that you may love the LORD your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the LORD is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

These verses are part of a longer passage about God renewing his covenant with the Israelites prior to them entering the Promised Land.

The Israelites had two choices regarding this covenant.

They could obey God’s covenant and experience life or, they could disobey God’s covenant and experience death.

Life here meant a full, rich relationship with God.

Death here referred to meaningless existence apart from God.

Each of us makes these same two choices today.

We can choose to live in relationship with God through faith in the Savior, Jesus Christ. This choice results in abundant and eternal life.

If we choose to reject Christ, we live in the death of a futile life here, and we will experience eternal death in our future.

Have you chosen life through receiving Christ as your Savior?

If you have received Christ as your Savior, my prayer is that you are growing in your faith and sharing him with others.

If you have not received Christ as your Savior, my prayer is that you trust him today by:

Admitting you are a sinner
Romans 3:23 (NIV) – “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”

Believing Christ is the only way to salvation
Acts 4:12 (NIV) – “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."

Confessing Christ as your Savior
Romans 10:9-10 (NIV) – “ 9 That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10  For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.”

Expecting God’s Best,
Bro Rob
