A New Name

Genesis 17:5 (NIV) - No longer will you be called Abram; your name will be Abraham, for I have made you a father of many nations.

Genesis 17:15-16 (NIV) - 15  God also said to Abraham, "As for Sarai your wife, you are no longer to call her Sarai; her name will be Sarah. 16  I will bless her and will surely give you a son by her. I will bless her so that she will be the mother of nations; kings of peoples will come from her."

God gave Abram and Sarai new names.

These names were signs that God would fulfill his covenant with them.

We receive the new name “Christian” when we place our faith in Christ.

This name was first given to early Christ followers in Antioch (Acts 11:26) because others saw them
as a distinct group of people who followed Christ’s teachings.

Our new name is a sign to us, and others, that we are adherents of Christ.

My prayer for you today is that others recognize you by your new name.

Expecting God’s Best,
Bro. Rob
