Purging Our Lives

Purging Our Lives

2 Chronicles 34:3 (NIV) “…In his twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem of high places, Asherah poles, carved idols and cast images.”

There are things in our lives that compete with our allegiance to God.

God calls these idols.

These may be material possessions. They may also be intangible things such as opinions, goals, and relationships.

Tim Keller said, “When anything in life is an absolute requirement for your happiness and self-worth, it is essentially an 'idol,' something you are actually worshiping.”

When Josiah determined to spiritually reform Judah, he purged the nation of its idols. This was necessary so the nation would trust only in God.

God calls us to worship him.

Only him.

What idols must be purged from your life?

As you allow God to reveal your idols, he will also give you the grace to purge them.

When our idols are purged, we will experience true contentment that only God gives.

My prayer for you today is that you are confronting and purging your idols.

Expecting God’s Best,
Bro Rob
