Our hope produces endurance
1 Thessalonians 1:2-3 (NIV) - We continually remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.
John Stott wrote that the Christian’s hope, “which looks expectantly to the Lord’s return, leads to endurance , which is patient fortitude in the face of opposition.” (The Gospel and the End of Time, p.30)
Runners endure the hardship of a race because they hope for the finish line.
Each believer in Christ has a finish line. This is when we will be with Christ in heaven forever.
Our hope in Christ gives us the endurance we need to live for him until that time.
My prayer for you today is that you will exercise your hope in Christ in whatever hardship you may be facing.
