Choose to Serve God

Choose to Serve God
In Joshua 24, Joshua gave the Israelites an ultimatum.
He told them to fear God and serve him with all faithfulness.
Then he told them to decide who they wanted to serve, the gods their ancestors served or the one true God.
As for him and his family, they were going to serve the Lord. He then called the entire nation to holiness.
The people agreed that they, too, would serve the Lord. So, Joshua had them throw away all of their idols and give their hearts to God.
We, too, are faced with the choice of who we are going to serve. The fact is we are going to serve something/someone. But who…or what?
As Bob Dylan famously wrote, “You’re gonna have to serve somebody. It may be the devil or it may be the Lord, but you’re gonna have to serve somebody.”
Who are we serving today? Are we serving ourselves and our interests, or are we striving for holiness and serving God?
The choice is ours.

Jonathan
