Be Strong and Courageous

In Joshua 1, we read that the Lord spoke to Joshua after Moses’ death.

God was giving Joshua the role that Moses filled for so long.

While Joshua had been an understudy to Moses, now was his time to lead.

Certainly, Joshua had fears and doubts.

God promised him, “I will be with you, just as I was with Moses.  I will not leave you or abandon you” (Joshua 1:5b).

His next words were “be strong and courageous.”

God would repeat these words to assure Joshua that He was with him and He would be faithful to Joshua.

Many times, we fear what God is commanding us to do.

Whether it be sharing Christ with someone, leading a small group, or making a big decision, the assurance that we have from God is that he is with us.

So, let us be strong and courageous!

In Christ,
Jonathan
