Equipped for Good Works

Equipped for Good Works

If you are a believer, did you know that you have been equipped to do good works?

Because Christ has saved us and His Spirit dwells within us, God has given all of us gifts and abilities to be used for His glory.

In 2 Timothy 3 Paul writes, “All scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness…”

We typically use that verse (v. 16) as a defense of God’s Word and its authority, and rightly so.  However, that verse does not end with a period.  There’s a comma there, which means that sentence is not yet complete.  Please accept my apology for the grammar lesson.

It continues in verse 17, “so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”

Any time you see “so that” in Scripture it means that there is purpose.  In this passage, God’s Word is inspired by God to teach, rebuke, correct, and train us for the purpose of doing the work of God.

When we read and study God’s Word it shows us how we are to live in our world.

I pray we not just read the Bible to check it off of our list of things we should do.  I pray we allow God’s Word to permeate us, change us, and equip us to work for God and His glory!

In Christ,
Jonathan
