Good Works
Over the past couple of weeks, we have seen many examples of good works in our community. Good works are essential in the life of the believer.
Good works do not earn us salvation, but rather they are the result of our salvation.
Ephesians 2:10 reveals great truth to us: “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time for us to do.”
The previous verses (8-9) reveal to us that works do not save us—that happens by grace through our faith in Jesus.
While good works do not earn eternal life, they certainly are evidence of our faith in Christ.
I have seen so many people helping others lately, and that has encouraged me to step out and help people, whether I know them or not, whether they are believers or not.
Let us continue to do good works, not to earn favor from God, but as a result of God’s work of grace in us, and as an act of love for those who need to see and know Jesus.
