Labor In Love

 Labor in Love

1 Thessalonians 1:3 (NIV) - We continually remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.

As Paul wrote to the church in Thessalonica, he remembered the love which motivated their labor for the Lord.

The Greek word Paul used for love is “agape”. This is selfless love. This is the kind of love God has for us.

We labor for God simply because we love him and others. This kind of labor brings rest to our souls.

James Draper wrote, “The Thessalonians did not serve God because of what they could get out of it, but because of what they could give to those around them. Their labor was not dependent on others’ praise. Because God had loved them, they loved – tirelessly and unceasingly.”

I am thankful for the men and women in our nation whose labor provides us with such a great standard of living.

I am also thankful to faithful followers of Christ who labor for him simply because they love him.

Happy Labor Day!

Expecting God's Best,
