Forgiveness

How joyful is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered! —Psalm 32:1

In Psalm 51, we saw David confess his sins to God.  In Psalm 32, we see the joy brought by forgiveness.

As believers, we should know the importance of forgiveness.  Because we have trusted Jesus as our Savior and Lord, we should remember the joy of being forgiven and the blessing of knowing that Christ has covered our sins.

When David was silent about his sins, he felt physical, emotional, and spiritual pain.  Does our sinfulness affect us?  Do we feel the conviction of the Holy Spirit?  Does it move us to seek the forgiveness of God?

David certainly felt those things.  In Psalm 32:5, he finally acknowledges his sin to God, and he experiences God’s forgiveness.

We, too, can experience the forgiveness of God.  And experiencing His forgiveness brings us joy.

David explains that “many pains come to the wicked,” but those who trust in the Lord will experience His faithful love surrounding them.

Lastly, David closes with worship: “Be glad in the Lord and rejoice.”

May our sins cause us to seek forgiveness, may our forgiveness result in joy, and may our joy erupt in worship!

In Christ,
Jonathan
