Be Confident in the Lord

Be Confident in the Lord

"Though an army deploys against me, my heart will not be afraid; though a war breaks out against me, I will still be confident." — Psalm 27:3

"Deploys against" can also be translated "sets up camp around me."  Whatever situation David was in, he felt surrounded.

Do you feel surrounded?  Overwhelmed?  You are certainly not alone!

David finished his thought with a powerful truth.  He says, "I will still be confident."

David was a mighty warrior, but his confidence was not in himself or his abilities.  It was in Almighty God alone.

David, though a sinner, had been the recipient of God's rescue on many occasions.  He knew the strength of the Lord would bring him through this situation.

I don't know what today or tomorrow brings, but I can be confident that God is in complete control, and he has the best in store for us.

Jeremiah 17:7 reinforces this promise: "The person who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence indeed is in the Lord, is blessed."

In Christ,
Jonathan
