Humility

Humility

Numbers 12:3 tells us, “Moses was a very humble man, more so than anyone on the face of the earth.”

Most people in our culture view humility as weakness.  When we think of humility, we think of someone lowering themselves.

God chose Moses to be the leader of the Israelites because of his humility.

Through God’s working, Moses was adopted into Pharaoh’s family and raised as a wealthy prince.  During the first forty years of his life Moses enjoyed all of the benefits of being royalty.

It would have been easy for Moses to be an arrogant person, but God needed to humble Moses before he could use him.

Because he had killed an Egyptian, Moses fled the lap of luxury and wound up a lowly shepherd in the land of Midian.  It was during this time that God spoke to Moses through the burning bush.

Do you want to hear from God?  Sometimes we become fugitives because of our sin and our pride.

True humility is finding your confidence in God, rather than yourself.  Instead of finding confidence in himself, Moses found confidence in God.  Only then was Moses ready to be used by God.

Philippians 2 tells us that Jesus humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death.  Being humble before God means that we trust Him above all things, knowing that God has the best in store for us.

In Christ,
Jonathan
