Our Greatest Peace

Our Greatest Peace

Peace seems to be a lost concept these days.  I find it interesting that so many people in our world today want peace, but they aren’t doing anything to bring about peace.

Jesus says in John 14, “Peace I leave with you.  My peace I give to you.  I do not give to you as the world gives.  Don’t let your hearts be troubled or fearful.”

The world defines peace as the absence of conflict, but Jesus’ peace is different.  It is confident assurance in any circumstance.  With Christ’s peace, we have no reason to fear the present or the future.

Yes, sin, fear, uncertainty, doubt, and numerous other forces are at war within us, but the peace of God moves into our hearts and lives and gives us comfort in place of conflict.

Peace with the world is impossible because the world is full of sin and evil.  But Romans 5:1 tells us, “We have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Philippians 4:6-7 provides us much comfort: “Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petitions with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

In PEACE,

Jonathan
