Gracious

Daniel 1:9-14
Gracious

Daniel, the captive, and Ashpenaz, the king’s chief official, could have easily had major conflict. Instead, they were gracious to one another.

Ashpenaz treated Daniel and his three friends graciously. In Daniel 1:9 we read, “Now God had caused the official to show favor and sympathy to Daniel.” Daniel was also gracious to Ashpenaz. Daniel graciously proposed a ten day diet test.

One commentary says, “Instead of expecting a pagan Gentile officer to obey the Law of Moses and get himself in trouble with the king, Daniel and his friends took a wise approach and asked for a ten-day experiment.” (Bible Exposition Commentary)

I don’t know about you, but I am thankful to people who have been gracious to me even though they rightfully could have acted otherwise.

Colossians 4:6 (NIV) - Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.

My prayer for you today is that you are gracious to others.

Expecting God’s Best,
Bro Rob
