Confident

Good Morning Church!

Daniel 1:11-14
Confident

Daniel 1:11-14 (NIV) - 11 Daniel then said to the guard whom the chief official had appointed over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah, 12 "Please test your servants for ten days: Give us nothing but vegetables to eat and water to drink. 13 Then compare our appearance with that of the young men who eat the royal food, and treat your servants in accordance with what you see." 14 So he agreed to this and tested them for ten days.

God granted Daniel favor in the official’s eyes. The official, however, was afraid Daniel’s proposed diet would not work. If it did not work, the king would want the official executed.
Daniel proposed a ten day test on his diet. After the test, the guard who was placed over Daniel and his three friends could compare them to the other young men who ate the food assigned to them by the king. Following the test results the guard could, “…treat your servants in accordance with what you see.” (1:13)

I believe Daniel displayed confidence in God in this situation. As one commentator said, “Daniel had no fear that God would not honor his stand on defiled food, and he fully expected to do well during exam week.” (Holman Old Testament Commentary)

Hebrews 13:6 (NIV) - So we say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?"

My prayer for you today is that you are confident in God’s help no matter what your circumstances may be.

Expecting God’s Best,
Bro Rob
