Believe
John 3:16

Eternal life is a gift from God that we receive when we believe only in Christ as our Savior.

Yesterday we began our brief series on how to have eternal life. You remember the first step to receive eternal life from God is to admit you are a sinner.

Scripture tells us our sin separates us from God. If we continue through life not receiving Christ as Savior, we are already separated from God. Then, upon our death, we will be in hell eternally separated from God.

The Bible tells us in Romans 6:23 that “the wages of sin is death.”  This refers to our physical death but also to our eternal spiritual death if we reject Christ as our Savior.

The Bible also tells us that there is nothing we can do about our sin problem by ourselves. We read this in Ephesians 2:8-9, which says, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-not by works, so that no one can boast.”

The good news is, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16, NIV)

God provided Jesus as our only means to eternal life. When Jesus died on the cross, he willingly paid the price of our sin. He died in our place.

When he rose from the grave, he proved he is able to give eternal life to all who receive Him as Savior.

To receive eternal life, we must believe Christ is the only Savior.

If you have not already done so, my prayer for you today is that you believe only in Christ as your Savior. If you do believe in Christ as your Savior, my prayer is that you are sharing him with others.
