Steadfast

Psalm 42:3, 10
Steadfast

The Psalmist was oppressed and taunted by his enemies. They attempted to cause him to doubt God’s presence. The enemies asked him, “Where is your God?”

“These men were the Psalmist’s enemies who taunted him to doubt, fear, and despondency about the character of God” (Holman Old Testament Commentary). These taunts caused him much emotional and physical distress.  But, even in the face of taunts, the Psalmist maintained his faith in God.

We face regular challenges to our faith in God, maybe even taunts from others. Sometimes these may come from people closest to us. These challenges and taunts can also cause us emotional and physical distress.

In times when our faith in God is challenged, insulted or ridiculed, we can take comfort in the reality that God is our Rock. He has proven this to us through sending Christ Jesus, his Son, as our Savior.

Psalm 42:11 (NIV) – “Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.”

My prayer for you today is that you will meet any challenge to your faith with a steadfast confidence in God.

Expecting God’s Best,
Bro Rob
