Thirsty for God

Good Morning Church,

On next Thursday, May 7, 2020, 6:30pm, I will host a group, using the Zoom app. I’m calling this a LifeGroup. This group will be approximately thirty minutes long and will focus on two things: a discussion of the daily devotions and a prayer time. I don’t know if it will be permanent. I will take it on a weekly basis and see how it goes.  If you would like to join this group go to eastpointebaptistchurch.com/signup and fill out the form. Please contact me if you have any questions about this group. I look forward to seeing you.

Psalm 42:1-2
Thirsty for God

The Psalmist was exiled from Jerusalem. He was unable to participate in temple worship. He felt estranged from God but, more than anything else, he desired God.

The Psalmist’s longing for God is described as a deer desperately panting for water in times of drought. We get the picture.

The Holman Old Testament Commentary says, “His driving passion was not for people, possessions, or prosperity but for God.”

Whatever we face in life our greatest desire is always for God.

When our desire is for God we will find him faithful. We read in Psalm 107:9 (NIV), “…he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.”

I believe our desire for God begins by knowing Christ as our Savior. Jesus himself said, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him" John 14:6-7 (NIV).

My prayer for you today is that your greatest desire is your desire for God.

Expecting God’s Best,
Bro. Rob
