John 21:20-23
What About Him?

After Christ called Peter to follow him, Peter noticed “the disciple whom Jesus loved” following them. This was probably John.

Peter, referring to John, asked Jesus, “What about him?” (21:21).

Herschel Hobbs, commenting on Christ’s answer to Peter said, “In simple terms Jesus said that what was to happen to John was none of Peter’s business…Peter had all that he could handle just to go on following Jesus…That was Peter’s responsibility; John’s fate was the responsibility of Jesus.”

Instead of comparing ourselves to others, we are called to follow Christ’s individual call upon our lives. Christ’s plans for his individual disciples will vary. Commit yourself to follow his plan for your life.

I encourage you to be faithful to Christ with the unique gifts, talents, situations, calling and personality he has given to you.

1 Corinthians 12:4-6 (NIV) – 4 There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. 6 There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men.

Expecting God’s Best,
Bro Rob
