Constitution and Bylaws Committee and Information

In 2022, we voted to establish a Constitution and Bylaws Revision Committee to help guide our church as we move forward, grow together, and operate according to the Lord's guidance. Below, you'll find information about the current bylaws and how to contact the committee with any recommendations and thoughts.

RECENT UPDATE

April 2024

To date, the Bylaws Revision Committee has received recommendations and feedback from the Church Staff, the Church Council, and the Deacons. After much prayer, study, collaboration, and discussion, the BLRC is pleased to present this draft of revisions to the church for consideration.

NOTES REGARDING THIS DRAFT

1. Church Members will have two opportunities to meet with the BLRC to ask questions or provide input in an open forum. See important dates below:
2. Church Members are encouraged to submit written suggestions or questions to the BLRC before the two meetings. You can turn in written messages to the Church Office or email the BLRC at bylaws@eastpointebaptistchurch.com. You can also contact any of the committee members.
3. To date, the BLRC has met with the Church Council (February 2024) and the Deacons (March 2024) to seek their input and recommendations.
4. To date, the BLRC has received written comments from several individual church members.
5. The process for the church to vote on the bylaw revisions is found in Section 12 of the current bylaws:
a.“Changes in the bylaws may be made at any regular business meeting of the church provided each amendment shall have been presented in writing at a previous meeting and copies of the proposed amendment shall have been furnished to each member present at the earlier meeting.  Amendments to the bylaws shall be by a two-thirds majority vote of church members present.”
